It took six years, but we knew we’d hear of Karl Brabenec again. As we wrote about one of our charter inductees into the Conservative Babylon Hall of Shame in 2003:
Moral apex: [Brabenec and Jimmy Karalis] Probably haven’t hit their apex(es) yet, but have already made names for themselves by distributing fliers at 2003 Young Republicans national convention for “Karlpalooza ‘03,” party offering “lots of beer, liquor and sex.
Now “Karlpalooza” is running for supervisor in the town of Deerpark, NY, where he’s been on the town council for a while. And the grimacing, rictus-like photo on his campaign Web site makes him look even more constipated than he did in 2003:
Sadly, his offspring have inherited that same tense, bared-teeth look. (Can you imagine what those poor kids are going to think when they get old enough to Google Daddy?)
Speaking of offspring, take a look at the opening paragraph of his bio:
Karl Alexander Brabenec was born to Emilie Brabenec and the late Rainer Karl Brabenec. He has one younger brother named Thomas and is the proud father of two beautiful children, Karl and Kimberlee Brabenec. He resides in Deerpark Manor in Westbrookville.
What’s missing? Where’s Jessie, Karl? You know — The Little Missus?
Finally, still on the bio page, this makes us laugh:
Brabenec has been very active in local government over the past decade. From 1998 until 2002, he served as City of Newburgh Events Coordinator and in 2002, was appointed as Staff Assistant to Orange County Executive Edward A. Diana. In that capacity, he was the County Executive’s liaison to many different departments in Orange County Government…
Diana fired Brabenec as YR prez after his little “Karlpalooza” stunt.
You can say “Diana asked Brabenec to step down” because “he thought the roles as student, staff assistant and YR president would take up too much of his time” all you want, and we’ll respond:
Yeah, and every time a director fires an actor from a movie, they both chalk it up to “creative differences.”
