One of two candidates who lost the 2006 Republican primary for South Dakota state house to convicted child rapist Ted Klaudt (now serving 54 years for raping two of his former foster daughters), one Gerry Heck (Gerhardt J. Heck), 61 — superintendent, Northwest Area Schools Educational Cooperative; wheat farmer; contact person for a Christian retreat center (Moreau River Sanctuary); and member of the board of directors of AgAmerica, FCB, bank since 2001 — has been indicted on federal charges of sexually abusing a girl on the Cheyenne River Indian Reservation, during the 1990s.

Arrested: Hence Hamblin, Jr., 66, who in August resigned as pastor of the West Middletown Church of God, Madison Township, Ohio, for “for allegedly inappropriately touching an underage female,” and charged with one count of gross sexual imposition, a fourth-degree felony. The Louisville Courier-Journal has the story on the gun-brandishing charges.
AP reports that Nunn, 56, has also been charged with violating that restraining order taken out by the murder victim, Nunn’s ex-girlfriend, 29-year-old Amanda Ross.
Other reports state that area police had been searching for Nunn since early morning, after Ross’s body was found in the parking lot of her townhouse.

Sentenced: Gregory John Briehl, 55, pastor, 400-member Peace Lutheran Church (Evangelical Lutheran Church in America), Charlottesville, Virginia, to five years — suspended — plus one year of supervised probation and forfeiture of his home computers, for possession of child pornography. Briehl had entered an “Alford plea” (i.e., “I didn’t do it but I’m still pleading guilty”). As part of the plea deal, the prosecutor dropped 14 other counts. This was not Briehl’s first offense; he had been convicted on two counts of video peeping (”surreptitiously videotaping women undressing in his home”) in 2006. As we wrote yesterday, in the wake of Heidi DeJong Barsuglia’s “explicit” denial of a sexual relationship with reckless and utterly pathetic braggart Mike Duvall (R-Family Values): “If she’s telling the truth and he isn’t, Mike Duvall is an even bigger schweinhund than anyone knew.”
