As we wrote yesterday, in the wake of Heidi DeJong Barsuglia’s “explicit” denial of a sexual relationship with reckless and utterly pathetic braggart Mike Duvall (R-Family Values): “If she’s telling the truth and he isn’t, Mike Duvall is an even bigger schweinhund than anyone knew.”
Now it appears Mike Duvall is, indeed, an even bigger schweinhund than anyone knew: Now he’s saying that just because he said he was banging (and/or spanking) two lobbyists, that doesn’t mean he really was.
A new statement popped up on Duvall’s campaign Web site today:
Assemblyman Duvall Denies Reports that he Had Affair “I want to make it clear that my decision to resign is in no way an admission that I had an affair or affairs. My offense was engaging in inappropriate story-telling and I regret my language and choice of words. The resulting media coverage was proving to be an unneeded distraction to my colleagues and I resigned in the hope that my decision would allow them to return to the business of the state.”
KPCC paraphrases a different version of Duvall’s denial (which may have been an earlier version of the statement we see now):
Republican Mike Duvall issued a statement on his website that the recorded comments in which he talked about spanking a female lobbyist during a sexual affair was only “talk.”
Burning question #1: Did Duvall really bag Barsuglia?
Burning question #2: If he didn’t, will Barsuglia sue for defamation, etc.?
One thing we do know: The fellow Assemblymember to whom Duvall was speaking was fellow Republican Jeff Miller (R-Corona).
Although Miller, according to various news reports, says he was only half-listening to Duvall (which we don’t buy, as Miller is clearly heard responding, in context, to Duvall; he asked Duvall if the woman liked getting spanked), why didn’t Miller — like Duvall, a member of the Assembly Ethics Committee (!) — report the obvious ethics violation Duvall was claiming; i.e., a member of the Committee on Utilities and Commerce shagging a utilities lobbyist?
The Assembly Ethics Committee is asking the same sort of question; Miller has been removed from the Assembly Ethics Committee.
How these “family values” Republicans do stick together!
Stay tuned — this is far from over. It’s only just beginning!
We bet this photo will be scrubbed from Jeff Miller’s Web site soon:
