Arrested: Jose Campoverde, 45, pastor, Ministerio Cristo Vive, an Anaheim, California, strip-mall church, on suspicion of lewd conduct with a minor, sexual battery, child annoyance and false imprisonment involving four girls between the ages of 13 and 17. Arrested: David Dewees, 32, high school teacher, Jarvis Collegiate Institute, Toronto, Ontario, and Christian camp counselor, Ontario Pioneer Camp in Huntsville, and charged with two counts of luring and two counts of “invitation to sexual touching” with two boys at the Christian camp; and Garth Bent (not pictured), 49, youth pastor at the camp, on similar charges. “Dewees once commented in a student article on teacher crushes in the school paper … about the precautions and professionalism teachers and students must maintain when it comes to interaction. Arrested: John David Helmuth, 44, associate pastor, Tabernacle of Faith, Piedmont, South Carolina, and lead singer, Christian group Elias, in an Internet predator sting, and charged with 10 counts of criminal solicitation of a minor and one count of attempted criminal sexual conduct with a minor. Arrested: Osiel Armando Muñoz, 26, ex-high school teacher and youth volunteer, Journey Church, Mission, Texas, on one second-degree felony count of an “improper relationship between an educator and a student” (maximum sentence: 20 years and $10,000), after a 17-year-old student told a counselor she might be pregnant with his child. In prison: David Kent Pierce, 56, former music minister, First Baptist Church, Benton, Arkansas, guilty of four felony counts of sexual indecency with a child, and sentenced to ten years in prison, transferred from county jail to an Arkansas state penitentiary.
