Tony Peraica (R-Anger Mismanagement, Ill.)
Claims to fame: Republican Teabagger Cook County, Illinois commissioner; lawyer; acccused vandal
Moral apex: Arrested October 30, 2010, and charged with criminal damage to property on suspicion he entered private property and destroyed a campaign sign for his Democratic opponent, McCook Mayor Jeff Tobolski.
Did he say “Crook County”? Sounds like it to us, after five viewings— er, listenings:
Great timing: As the Trib notes, Peraica was busted just three days before the 2010 election (”a nasty battle,” HuffPo calls it) that will determine whether or not he gets a third term as commish.
What does Peraica say? It’s a set-up! A set-up, he tells you! The whole thing was a trumped-up political ploy, and the cops were in on it! “It was as clear an abuse of police powers as I have ever seen.”
Memorable quote:
“This ain’t political for me. I’m law enforcement.”— McCook Police Chief Frank Wolfe
Memorable observations:
“[Chief Frank Wolfe] also noted that Peraica was dressed head to toe in black for his nighttime mission.”— Chicago Sun-Times
October 31, 2010
“An often outspoken member of the Cook County Board, Peraica is known for a temper and for crossing political friends and foes.”
— ibid.
What’s next? Peraica is due in court November 22, 2010.
Suggested Bible reading for Mr. Peraica:
A wrathful man stirreth up strife: but he that is slow to anger appeaseth strife.— Proverbs 15:18
