Thomas Dean Shaffer (R-BigFatLoser, Penn.)
Claims to fame: Ex-campaign manager for Republican Pennsylvania State Rep. Jeff Pyle (Dist. 60); ex-member, Ford City Borough Council; three-time drunk driver; accused thug; accused thief
Moral apex: You mean most recently? Busted November 4, 2010, and charged with stealing more than $26,000 from Pyle’s campaign funds. Pyle found out when his bank called to say a $25,000 check written on the account had bounced.
But, wait! There’s more! This isn’t Shaffer’s first run-in with the law:
Shaffer’s online court record dates to 1987, when he was arrested for driving under the influence in the Indiana area and was assessed $300 for placement on the accelerated rehabilitative disposition program. In 1994, Shaffer, then a resident of Indiana, was charged with simple assault and harassment but the charge was dismissed when the purported victim chose not to testify.
Shaffer was convicted again of DUI in 1994 in a case originating in the Blairsville district court jurisdiction and was ordered to pay $801 in fines and costs.
Shaffer was identified as a resident of Graceton in a 1997 complaint for DUI filed in Cambria County, where he pleaded guilty and was assessed $1,039 in fines and costs.
