Cass County Comish-Elect Herschel Young (R-FelonyAssault, Mo.): Boy-Basher, Boy-Kisser, or Both?
The recent election of Republican Herschel Young as commissioner of Cass County, Missouri, is being challenged, for the simple reason that Young is a convicted felon, and Missouri doesn’t allow felons to hold public office.
So, what did Young do? He punched a man in the face — because, he claimed, the man spat on Young’s wife. In 1995, he pleaded guilty, and was sentenced to a year’s probation.
This story is boring. Does it get better? Maybe not “better,” but it certainly gets much more interesting: Young is facing new charges (two counts of third-degree assault), stemming from an incident in which he allegedly threw a 14-year-old on the ground — after trying to kiss the boy.

[T]he 43-year-old Young allegedly assaulted a teenage boy who was kissing a teenage girl as [trucks] raced through mud pits in Garden City. …Prosecutors allege that Young grabbed the teen by his head and arm, tried to kiss him on the mouth and then threw him down on the ground. What can you say about Herschel Young? He got convicted of a felony, even “if” what happened to cause that felony is true and every red-blooded male would do the same. Herschel is known throughout our little county for his antics in Lake Annette as the current alderman and former mayor who would get “drunker than Cooter Brown” at the local honkytonks on a weekly basis. Who was a typical drunk redneck and who’s fighting eventually led to the aforementioned felony. He is an attention whore who wants to hold any public office regardless of the responsibilities and qualifications demanded by the office. So this recent Republican landslide, he decides to run on the Republican ticket. He is not, and never has been a Republican before, it makes me wonder how he is now??? The county Repubs could not find anyone to run against him so he somehow won the primary be default. I hope he is removed from office and the usurpation is not allowed to occur before he does even more damage to the Repub party. He is such an offensive person, it makes me wonder if the whole thing isn’t some sort of Dem plot to shame the Repub’s.
