Kevin Allen Parker: Staunch Baptist Republican Lawmaker’s Son Busted as Serial Flasher/Wanker

Claims to fame: 27-year-old son of right-wing Baptist Republican South Carolina State Rep. Steve Parker; suspected serial flasher, public wanker, burglar & cop-puncher-outer
Moral apex #1: Busted the night of October 30, 2010, outside a University of South Carolina women’s dormitory, for exposing himself and masturbating — and then allegedly giving police officers a false name and date of birth, and hitting one of the cops in the chest before trying to run away. (The cops grabbed him when Klutzy Kevin “slipped in a grassy area a few feet away.” [GoUpstate.com])
What did Daddy say? “Steve Parker said his son was charged for urinating in a bush after a ball game, something ‘probably 10,000 students’ have done. ‘We think it’s an unjust charge, and we’ll let the court system have it,’ the state representative said.” [ibid.]
But: Kevin isn’t a U. of S.C. student, Daddy.
And: Whether he was peeing or wanking, indecent exposure is still a crime — which is just one of the charges against Sonny Boy. How then, Mr. Parker, is the charge “unjust”? Are you saying you’d like to strike down Section 16-15-130 of the S.C. penal code (even though we have a feeling it’s Section 16-15-365 that’s going to give your boy trouble)?

Daddy
Oh, the irony! Daddy says the whole thing is “a private family matter.” Funny, Steve-O, how you don’t think what other people do with their private parts is a private matter — like the women of South Carolina (none of whom is having an abortion in public, the way your son was conducting his business).
Even more irony: Daddy voted to censure South Carolina Governor (and Conservative Babylonian) Mark Sanford, who gave us “Hiking the Appalachian Trail” as a euphemism for “sneaking off to Argentina and shacking up with a woman who isn’t your wife.”
OK, that’s “Moral apex #1.” What’s “Moral Apex #2″? Glad you asked, because you just gave us the opening to use our favorite line lifted from late-night commercials for K-Tel / Ronco / Ginsu / Chia Pets / BeDazzler / The Clapper (insert your favorite “As Seen On TV!” product here):
But, wait! There’s more! We said Kevin is a “suspected serial flasher,” didn’t we? Kevin’s October 30th arrest wasn’t just an isolated incident:
On November 16, 2010, Kevin was arrested again, this time “in connection with a series of indecent exposure cases” — meaning: The cops believe Kevin is the notorious “Upstate Flasher,” FITSNews tells us, “a white male in his twenties with a thin build … linked to more than 20 incidents of stalking and indecent exposure on the campus of the University of South Carolina-Upstate since 2009. On more than one occasion, the ‘Flasher’ is alleged to have entered a victim’s residence and stood over them as they slept. In one incident — he is alleged to have rubbed one of his victim’s legs.”
Which would explain why, on top of indecent exposure and assault and battery, Kevin has also been charged with burglary.
Several weeks ago, deputies say Parker entered two apartments at the Campus Suites apartments and stood over women who were asleep inside. In one instance, deputies say one of the women awoke to Parker touching her. …[Spartanburg County Sheriff Chuck Wright] says Parker’s been under investigation for about three weeks. He said they didn’t arrest him sooner because of a lack of evidence.
“We simply didn’t have the evidence,” Wright said during a Tuesday afternoon press conference.

“We simply didn’t have the evidence.” Hmmm… Some folks (or should we say “Folks”?) might say that’s debatable. Here’s part of a lengthy piece from FITSNews, posted November 15, 2010 — just one day before Kevin Parker was arrested in connection with the “Upstate Flasher” case) — “‘Upstate Flasher’ Exposed?“:
[S]ources tell FITS that the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s office has been facing “political pressure” over the course of its investigation into these incidents and as a result has yet to file charges against the lawmaker’s son. …The first-term lawmaker was also apparently able to keep the story from becoming public prior to the Nov. 2 election — in which he was challenged by former Rep. Ralph Davenport and Democratic Delores Frazer.
Sources close to the investigation tell FITS that it’s not the first time Rep. Parker — a former local school board member and county councilman — has covered for his son. In fact, there was allegedly a 2002 incident involving the younger Parker that they say was expunged from his record.
But do Kevin Parker’s alleged past problems and his recent arrest for indecent exposure on the USC campus necessarily mean that he is the “Upstate Flasher?”
No, not necessarily … but sources tell FITS that damning evidence against the lawmaker’s son has turned up during the course of their investigation. Specifically, DNA evidence is said to exist that connects Parker to cigarette butts found at the scene of one of the USC-Upstate incidents. Also, one of the USC-Upstate victims is said to have picked the younger Parker out of a police lineup.
Obviously those two bits of information, if true, would be more than enough to build a compelling case — even without Parker’s indecent exposure arrest in Columbia.
Remember now, that was published just one day before Kevin Parker was arrested and charged in the “Upstate Flasher” case.
On November 16th, after Parker’s arrest, Sheriff Chuck Wright fielded questions at a news conference, during which (at 1:30 on the video) he was asked what he thought of the FITSNews article (Will Folks, toward whom Wright directs his irritation, is the editor of FITSNews):
Wright: I think Will Folks is full of it. That’s my official statement. Um… I don’t, um, appreciate him… Isn’t he the one that said he had all the evidence on, uh, the governor that he never could prove? That’s the same guy? I don’t really care what he says about me. But, um, his blog was— was way off base… It didn’t… None— none of that’s true. Any more questions about Will Folks? I mean, that— that’s pretty asinine.Q. You can see the— how the set-up — and I’m just thinking in terms of how bloggers think, there’s a setup… This morning, you make the arrest, they got credit for it, look, because, look—
[crosstalk]
Wright: Who takes credit for that?
Q. Because, “We led the way, we forced them to make an arrest…”
Wright: Who’s “we”?
Q: I’m just speculating about the blogger mentality.
Wright: Again, this pesky little thing called evidence always seems to get in the way when you make an arrest. So… That’s, um, that’s the way it is. It did work out, it timed itself like that, but he’s not gonna get any of the credit for this arrest. OK, I’m done. Thank you.
Folks responded in a press statement:
First of all I’m glad that the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office has apprehended the individual who is believed to be responsible for these crimes. Ultimately that’s what matters.Second, Sheriff Wright is entitled to his opinion about me and my website. I respect that opinion, and I certainly understand why he chose to voice his disapproval of our recent coverage. He has a pressure-packed job, and from what I understand he is very good at what he does.
Personal opinions aside, we received information related to this investigation from a credible source. We published that information, and we stand by it. Having said that, FITSNews has played a very small role in this process — as local television stations and newspapers have been the ones following this case for some time now.
At the end of the day, my only hope is that justice is served in this case, that people feel safer as a result of this arrest and that the young man accused of these crimes gets the help that he needs.
We think Mr. Folks is being extremely gracious, especially considering the importance of the “DNA evidence” FITSNews’ undisclosed sources mentioned before Sheriff Wright did. Check out this news video — which also alludes to allegations of Kevin Parker attempting to lure children into his car “as far back as 2006″:
What happens next? Kevin Parker has been denied bond; there’s been no word yet on his next court appearance, but we’ll bring you up to date as soon as we know. Stay tuned.
One thing we do know: If convicted on all charges, Parker may be sentenced to life.
Memorable observation:
I was asked a good question this morning. How much influence did [Steve] Parker have to keep this story from breaking before the election[?]— Reader comment

Suggested Bible reading for Kevin Parker:
And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell. And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.
— Matthew 5:29-30
Suggested Bible reading for Steve Parker:
Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward. As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth.
