Pentecostal “Prosperity Gospel” Televangelist Marcus Lamb Confesses to Adultery… But Only After Blackmail Threat
STOP THE PRESSES! Make sure to read the follow-up entry, “Blockbuster Lawsuit Over Marcus Lamb’s Adulterous Affair: Is This the End of the Daystar Empire?,” as soon as you finish reading this one. Things have taken some very interesting turns!
This oily-looking character with the satanic goatee is Marcus Lamb…
…an American televangelist, minister and Christian broadcaster. He also is co-founder, president, and CEO of the Daystar Television Network … the second largest Christian Network in the world.
…who went catting around on his wife, and when the poop hit the fan, went public, ‘fessing up to an extramarital affair he had some years ago — for which he’s now being praised by fellow christianists as some sort of persecuted victim, instead of a lying adulterer who couldn’t keep his trousers zipped:
Influential televangelist Marcus Lamb … and his wife, Joni … made the announcement during the “Celebration” TV program. The couple decided to tell the public about the affair after three people threatened to take the story to the media if Daystar didn’t pay them $7.5 million.“They’re trying to take our pain and turn it to their gain,” said Marcus Lamb during the live broadcast…
After the Lord convinced her that Marcus was “worth fighting for,” the couple began a process of repentance, forgiveness, reconciliation and restoration through pastoral counseling and personal accountability. …
“Joni and Marcus chose to reveal their story — not to excuse a sin, but rather to celebrate the victory of God’s grace and redemptive purpose in their lives,” a statement on Daystar.com reads. “This has resulted in an expanded ministry vision focusing on marriage restoration among other couples and families…

Oh, puh-leeze. Real “repentance, forgiveness, reconciliation and restoration” and “personal accountability” — especially “personal accountability” — would have begun with a public admission of guilt before blackmailers forced his hand.
Remember, folks: We really couldn’t care less how anybody screws up his own marriage, or his own life, as long as he doesn’t hurt anyone else, or try to force others to live by his own (usually twisted) belief system. And we wouldn’t care a whit if Mr. Lamb cheated on Mrs. Lamb with an army of nuns, as long as everyone involved was of age and the sex was consensual.
But, as you’ve probably guessed, Mr. Lamb is quite the anti-gay, “family values,” “sanctity of marriage” hypocrite (small wonder, then, he was among the wackiest of whackjobs rallying in support of Conservative Babylonian and fellow “Blab-It-and-Grab-It” televangelist Paul Crouch at the height of Crouch’s gay-sex scandal) — and as long as he makes our lives his business (and continues to compare gay people to “drug addicts and shoplifters“), then his life is our business.
P.S. How wacky is Marcus Lamb? He thinks a fetus can be doomed to a “family curse” in the womb.

I am so upset at reading this. Of all people!? I used to look at the Lambs and think what an awesome, happy couple they are. I remember telling my husband how good he must take care of her because they were always “kissy face” and lovey-dovey on TV, and how smiley and sweet she always looked. All along there was a 3 year charade! Apparantly, Joni’s smile was fake because she was devastated. How can she NOT be?! Yeah, I know all the mumbo jumbo charismania name it claim it Jesus is my joy confession…and He is…however, more preachers need to be more human and be able to be forthright about their human side. It gives me pause, and I wonder how long they would have kept this hidden had the extortionists not threatened them? I am NOT judging but I’m a mere pew warmer. I’m not up in the pulpit trying to get the log out of someone else’s eyes when I got a few of my own in my own eyes. I am furious! Why do these ministers continue doing this! I mean why can’t they just step down? When Marcus did this to Joni he should have taken a hiatus from TV and taken the measures necessary to repair his marriage. I would have had more respect. And men, do you not know that this brings shame to your wife and family!? UGH!
The short answer: Ministers, like politicians, always end up thinking they’re invincible.
Janice Smith, Ex VP of Programming for Daystar is the alleged mistress of seven years. It seems like that was left out of the show though… Any ideas?
That’s certainly interesting. If you have any leads, we’d be more than happy to follow up.
if a payoff was involved… do you think they would have given her cash? Why come our several years later? Why not share who the three people who are extorting them are?
Well, thinking (as best I can imagine) as a high-profile televangelist with a giant ego and everything to lose, I would definitely make any payoffs in cash. Maybe there were payoffs, and maybe not; I am reminded of the story of the pastor Mark Ostgarden ( http://home.conservativebabylon.com/2009/09/07/rev-mark-ostgarden/ ), whose blackmailing mistress was brought up on charges of felony coercion when Ostgarden ran out of money, and called the cops to report the extortion. Perhaps Mr. Lamb dumped his mistress, and she tried to blackmail him in revenge, or perhaps he told her he’d run out of money, and she tried to take everything he had.
It’s possible the three extortionists are in it with the mistress, or one or more is close enough to the mistress to be decidedly certain that the affair story was true — enough to risk a blackmail plot.
What puzzles me — that is, if Mr. Lamb has nothing to hide — why not, indeed, expose the names of the blackmailers, and press charges? No matter who the mistress is/was, one would think the Lambs would be eager to bring such criminals to justice. If they don’t, I would suspect there is a reason they would want to keeps the blackmailers’ names under wraps, in order to protect themselves. It’s just my humble opinion, but I expect there are many more layers to this story than we now know.
One thing I do know: The truth always outs. I have no doubt we’ve only seen the tip of the iceberg on this one.
Well said. It would be neat if someone had the ability to research the alleged mistress and see where she is living. Maybe she has a incredible new car, house, boat and so on. That would say alot. Also, being a VP of Daystar and not being one anymore, I wonder what the excuse was of why she was leaving back then.
Because they are a non-profit, don’t they have to share there information to the public?

Great catch, John — adding the link to a new post as I wrote this. Thanks very much!
The mistress is Janice Smith. Do a little research on the timing/nature of her sudden exit (she was frequently on the show).
Before the end she was acting as second in command and using Marcus’ personal office at the Bedford location when she wasn’t in Denver.
Not a fan of your overall site message. But unfortunately this I all true and as wrong as it looks.
There are some innocent people in the redacted names BTW. My biggest worry is that they would be hurt.
Former: I believe you (and Howard, who named JS earlier), but I can’t print anything as fact yet.
That’s OK if you’re not a fan — I’d rather be blogging pictures of cute kittens myself. (And if these hypocrites would ever back off and stop demonizing people like me for no reason, I’d be more than happy to stop making examples of them. I doubt think they ever will, so the cute kittens are going to have to wait indefinitely.)
Seriously, I hope no innocent bystanders get hit by the crossfire, either. One thing Lamb said was true: it was no one’s fault but his own.
a 411 search pulls up Daystar station outside of Denver.:
“Janice Smith, 12014 W 64th Ave, Arvada, CO 80004-4010
(303) 423-4141
Job: Krmt Tv, Advertising Staff”
This info makes sense if Janice is still collecting on the Daystar payroll. The spin we were given as employees went like this: Janice left because she started her own company but she is working for us as a consultant. HA!
The Lambs are indeed power hungry and aggressive and viscous when anyone doesn’t hold them up on a pedestal. They don’t play clean. They arm themselves with attorneys because Christ no longer arms them with the truth. I was there. Let me tell you, they are not what they seem on TV (if you had a positive view..). They are ruthless, cold and absolutely NEVER stop to say hello to employees. It’s a huge sham. But, then again, maybe I they’re headed to phony heaven and it doesn’t matter there. I can’t wait for people to come forward and support these women. Like Admin wrote above, this is just the tip of the iceberg indeed!
Christmas is coming and yall worry about the little actions of these people. The worst thing they do is to our children with their confrontational Christianity. I have watched these people on the networks for 37 yrs and seen them send out disciples into all the world inciting death and destruction everywhere they go. They fill the world with pedophiles with the teaching that the mother of Jesus was 12 -14 yrs old when the authorized version KJ Bible says in Luke 1/36 that Mary was well stricken in years as was her cousin Elisabeth the mother of John the Baptist Luke 1/7. The sentence in Luke 1/36 says “she hath also conceived a son in her old age” that makes Mary in her old age also. A class action suit should be brought against the networks and the preachers of this gospel on behalf of the children that have been abused by this teaching. We don’t seem to care about the ones we should care about the children who suffer at the hands of these pedophiles who justify what they do by saying it’s okay because G-d did it and further more Jesus died to cover my sin and I’m double protected. We don’t allow innocent people to go to jail for the guilty,it’s called obstruction of justice why would we as sons of men think that G-d would allow that? We have all become unjust and nobody does anything but say I told you so.
