First, the good news: “U.S. District Judge Karen Schreier dismissed as ‘frivolous’ and ‘meritless’ Klaudt’s arguments that the trial court lacked jurisdiction because the American flag in the courtroom had fringe, making it a military tribunal, and because he later renounced his U.S. citizenship.” [KOTA]

Back that truck up — “…because the American flag in the courtroom had fringe”? Yep — which is the reason we ask if Ted Klaudt is one of those “sovereign citizen” nuts:

Frequent claims in support of the income tax conspiracy include: … The gold fringe around the American flag, as displayed in many federal courts, designates them as Admiralty courts, which cannot hear other kinds of cases, or signal that the court is operating under martial law. No court has ever upheld this argument, as neither the presence (or absence) of a flag (or of any other standard or element of decor), nor the fringe on a flag (which has no heraldic or vexillological significance), has any bearing whatsoever on the jurisdiction of a court.”
