The story of Susan Brock, wife (and soon-to-be ex-wife) of Maricopa County Supervisor Fulton Brock, and her alleged child molestation, only gets stranger by the day.

Rachel BrockIn Part 1 of this report, we told you that the Brock’s 21-year-old daughter, Rachel Brock, was arrested for having sex with the same boy her mother is accused of molesting. Worse, it sounds like Rachel engaged in sex acts with the boy even before her mother did — beginning when he was only 13. Rachel Brock, charged with three felony counts of sexual conduct with a minor and one felony count of trasmitting obscene material to a minor, is currently being held without bond.

We’re learning more about Susan Brock, too. If police reports are accurate, Brock was nothing if not cagey in the way she communicated with her alleged victim: through the drafts folder of the boy’s Yahoo! email account. He would log in, write a message to Brock, and never send it; she would log in to his account later and read any messages left for her in the drafts folder, and vice versa, thereby never having to send email back and forth, so his parents would never get wise. (As it turns out, the kid’s parents were smarter than even they themselves knew, without knowing why — but we’ll get to that in a moment.)

As for what was in those email drafts, it appears it was common for the boy to leave a message for Brock telling her what time to pick him up from school. The boy’s parents, reports the Phoenix New Times, got skeevy about this habit (even though they had no idea what was really going on), forbade the boy to see Brock again, and directed the school not to allow Brock to pick up their son any longer. The school went one better and banned Brock from the grounds entirely, threatening her with police action if she showed up.

Christian Hart WeemsMeanwhile, this where Brock’s friend — and fellow Mormon Mommy — 37-year-old political activist Christian Hart Weems, comes into the picture. A few days after Brock’s arrest, Brock called Weems from jail. From as much as we’ve heard of the recorded conversation intercepted by authorities, it sounds like it was Weems’s idea to get the boy’s email password from Brock.

Brock obviously had no idea what Weems, speaking in code about a password for a “gate” at a nonexistent “beach house,” was talking about, but then it finally dawned on her, and Brock, say cops, gave Weems a password which did, indeed, match that of the boy’s email account.

It is believed that Weems then logged in to the boy’s account and altered or destroyed evidence that could be used against Brock. What she might have deleted or altered, cops say they don’t know. We say Yahoo! Mail must have at least some backups that could be compared to what’s in the kid’s inbox now. (A simple court order should get you that much, guys.)

In any case, Weems was arrested and charged with four felony counts: one of tampering with physical evidence, one of altering computer data, one of obstructing a criminal investigation or prosecution, and one of hindering prosecution in the first degree.

Incidentally, notes the MyFoxPhoenix.com report, Weems, a mother of four, came under scrutiny in 2004 after leaving her son in the back of her car for nearly two hours on a hot Arizona summer day. While neither arrested nor charged with any crime, this incident, in light of her arrest in the Brock case, makes us wonder if Weems has any sense at all: She told Gilbert police she had gone to a meeting and forgot about her son.

Stay tuned. This is only the beginning of one of the strangest stories we’ve ever encountered.
