Gina Olson (R-Adulteryville, Wis.)
Claims to fame: Former Oneida County, Wisconsin, Court Clerk; failed Republican candidate for same office; adulteress
Moral apex: While married, carried on an extramarital affair with sheriff’s deputy Steven Ramm “while he was on duty, in uniform and in the county courthouse.”
Nasty! How did this come to light? Ramm’s wife sent a letter to the county court requesting Olson’s removal from office.
Did they can her? Nope, just publicly reprimanded her. But…
Temporary justice: Olson, who had originally been appointed to the post in 2009, ran for re-election in 2010, and lost the Republican primary to one Brenda Behrle, who then won the general election. (Meanwhile, Ramm resigned — actually, it sounds more like he was sacked — from the sheriff’s department, and, last we heard, is serving in the military, deployed somewhere far, far away.)
But: Just this month, Olson was hired back by the county, and is working in the courthouse: As of January 4th, Olson started her new job as part-time deputy treasurer.
Who the heck would hire her again? County treasurer Kristina Ostermann, who made the hiring decision all by her little lonesome, saying she needed someone fast (no pun intended on our part!), and Olson was the only applicant for the job.
In an economy like this, there was only one applicant? Yeah, that was our first thought, too.
Memorable quote:
“It’s not a decision I would have made, but I am not the treasurer.”— Oneida County Board of Supervisors Chairman Ted Cushing

Suggested Bible reading for Ms. Olson:
Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands.— Proverbs 14:1-1
Suggested Bible reading for Mr. Ramm:
When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.Whoso loveth wisdom rejoiceth his father: but he that keepeth company with harlots spendeth his substance.
— Proverbs 29:22-3
