Accused Cop-Killer Jahmell W. Crockam Goes to Church — So He Can’t Possibly Be Guilty!
Do you need us to comment on the sad irony of these statements by the relatives of 19-year-old Jahmell W. Crockam — whose nickname is “Sav,” short for “Savage” — and who, reports the Asbury Park Press, “has been charged in the separate slayings of [Police] Officer Christopher Matlosz, 27, and Justin Williams, 20″?
“They’ve painted my son as a monster. We’re raised in the church, and we’re still going.”
— Vernetha Shontell Crockam
Crockam’s mother
“How can someone say this boy has no soul? He goes to church every Sunday.”
— Raquel Pressley
Crockam’s aunt
That church is Church of God, Lakewood, New Jersey, whose pastor, also reports the APP, is shocked — shocked! he tells you! — by the murder accusations, and where Jahmell Crockam’s great-great-grandfather was once pastor.
Well, OK, if you insist, we’ll comment: We can’t possibly know if Crockam is guilty or innocent — but we do know one thing: church attendance does not innocence make.
But you know that already, Dear ConBab Reader. You know that already.
