We don’t give a horse’s patoot if Roy R. Browne identifies as gay; anybody who identifies as a Baptist Republican is a conservative — and is propping up two of the most rabidly oppressive, anti-gay institutions in the United States world.

We have no idea if this boy is guilty or innocent (but you can guess our guess):

Per KPLR, “Suspect Allegedly Used Facebook to Target Teen,” February 7, 2011:

Police say a 28 year old man from Columbia, Illinois tried to have sex with two local boys he found on Facebook, where he had more than fifteen hundred friends. Now police want every mom and dad in the St. Louis area to check their child’s Facebook account for Browne’s name.

“He had 1,512 friends on Facebook,” said Columbia Police Chief Joe Edwards. “We haven’t had time to sit down and try to identify all of them yet. To be quite honest, this department doesn’t have the resources to find 1,512 individuals. That’s why we need help.”

 

Edwards urged parents, especially those in Waterloo, Dupo, Millstadt, Madison County and South St. Louis County to check their children’s Facebook friend lists. If Roy Browne is on there, Edwards says police need to be notified.

When we checked, just four hours after this story was first posted, the number of Roy-Boy’s “friends” had dropped to 1,332.

Police arrested Browne in a quick sting put together in just hours Friday. But they’d known his name and his habits for many months. While he is not a registered sex offender, Edwards said they’d received a phone call from a mother asking if she should be concerned that her teenager had been friended by Browne on Facebook. “We gave her some suggestions,” said Edwards. “We had begun seeing him at locations, not committing crimes, but just being in areas where kids hang out. He frequents sites where young kids are.”
