Same-Day Double-Whammy for Gadsden, Alabama Tabernacle: One Member Convicted of Child-Rape, Another Charged with Sodomy
What the Hell is going on at The Tabernacle (“Come Expecting A Miracle!”), in Gadsden, Alabama? On the very same day one kiddie-molesting pervert is convicted of sexually abusing little girls through his volunteer position at the church, another adult connected with the church — a woman this time — is accused of sodomizing a 14-year-old girl.
Convicted: Thomas Russell Reilly, 59, Tabernacle volunteer, on one count of first-degree rape and four counts of sexual abuse of a child under 12 years old — specifically: four girls between the ages of five and ten. WIAT reports that Reilly “allowed numerous female children to spend the night with him in his home, on the premise that if they stayed the night, he could take them with him to church the next morning at the Tabernacle… Reilly, who lived alone, also picked the children up from school on Wednesdays to attend church with him that evening. Reilly told law enforcement that he worked as an usher and security guard for the church, as well as driving children to church in a van.” Sentencing is scheduled for May 30, 2012.
Charged: Jamie Leigh Duffey, 31, Tabernacle member, with second-degree sodomy, stemming from an allegation that she engaged in a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old girl. Duffey, reports WAFF, “is said to have gone to youth events at the Tabernacle Church in Gadsden. It is believed she was at a slumber party at a home where some of the youth were attending and built a relationship with the girl. Gadsden Police say the sodomy took place in the women’s restroom at Premier Cinemas at the Gadsden Mall.”
It appears this is not Duffey’s first run-in with the law. If this isn’t she, we’ll be very, very surprised:

• “Theft Arrest, Two Counts of Second Degree Theft resulting in Felony. All Items Recovered,” Nixle.com, January 27, 2010
Whether Duffey is guilty of anything or not, we think she owes a huge apology to the global lesbian community. Seriously: We love our butch boi-friends, but must Duffey perpetuate the scary-predator-dyke stereotype set forth by Frankie Doyle in “Prisoner: Cell Block H”?
Whatever Duffey did or didn’t do, we also think Tabernacle pastor Tommy Marshall ought to watch what he says, in case Duffey is cleared: “She’s a very disturbed person. To do what she did was wrong in every way.” (And you’re a shrink, Mr. Marshall? And are you not aware of the dangers of making a public — and unqualified — statement deeming one of your followers mentally unstable? Dumb move, Mr. Marshall. Dumb move.)
We don’t know if Duffey is just a big ol’ self-loathing lesbian a-skeered o’ Hell or what. All we know if what we read in the papers.
But we do know one thing: If Duffey molested a 14-year-old — of either (or any) sex — she needs to be locked up.

i do know mr. marshall he is a very decent man ..who is correct even by you..she is a disturbed person or she wouldnt have done this..and needs to go to prison…most people in prison are disturbed people..even my brother who let drugs control his life…a disturbed person can come from your family..or neighborhood..i feel for what this church family is going thru.
We think Mr. Marshall, for his own sake, should be careful about calling anybody “disturbed” in public — another minister, Mac Brunson, got hit with a lawsuit for making similar public statements about a blogger.
There are lots of folks we’re convinced are stark raving mad, but we’d never state an opinion like that as fact. We’re not lawyers, but you might want to advise Mr. Marshall not to make any more public statements assessing anybody else’s mental state — no matter how apparent it seems — so he doesn’t end up with a lawsuit on his hands.
