Really, folks, we would have contacted the webmaster(s) at FundamentalForums.com to ask: “Do you approve of the use of the slur ‘homofaggots’ in the title of one of your users’ posts?” but there is no contact information anywhere on the site. So, since many of FF’s regular forum posters visit ConBab (and we know you do, sweeties!), we figured if we mentioned this here (and on Twitter), word would get back to the FF webmaster(s).

FundamentalForums.com, for the blissfully unaware, is home to Independent Fundamental Baptist (IFB) types — the sort who cling furiously to their IFB roots (when, seriously, we really think most of them are just hanging on by a thread, trying to convince themselves that their “roots” are not hopelessly gnarled and rotten to the core), many of whom attended, and still pledge allegiance to, Hyles-Anderson College which spawned a vast, sick (and sickening) network of perverts (and perverted “scripture”), as well as numerous other (unaccredited) schools and independent, insular (one might be tempted to say “incestuous”) churches whose leaders would love to drag us all — fundy, Jew, Buddhist, Muslim or non-believer — back to a “Leave It to Beaver” world that never existed except in their own diseased, collective imagination, or stone us to death in their failure to do so.

We have been lurking at FundamentalForums.com for years, partly because those li’l gossip hounds (and where else will you find so much nasty gossip but among the faithful?) often unknowingly tip us off to yet another name to be researched, and partly because it’s so entertaining to watch the participants back-bite one another with such viciousness, such venom, such self-righeousness. Believe us: You have never seen such back-biting, even if your telvision consumption consists of nothing but “Toddlers and Tiaras,” “Desperate Housewives” and “GCB.” Spending any time at all reading FundamentalForums.com is like watching an endless loop of the Alexis-Krystal catfight alternating with the Neely O’Hara-Helen Lawson catfight.

Of course, they present themselves as the most upright, pious exemplars of good, moral, Christian living — and, naturally, spout off about the Sin of Homosexuality at every opportunity… at least, when they’re not bitch-slapping one another, and when they’re not slapping themselves on the back for being such good, moral Christians in the first place. (Never mind which of their regular members have engaged in extramarital affairs until being caught out — they’re forgiven, don’tcha know! … at least until next time.)

That, we can take. It’s to be expected. But when one of their ilk, a “Master of Fundamentalism” called “DeaconDixon” (who claims to live in Avon, Indiana, which isn’t all that far from Hyles’s home base of Hammond, Indiana) takes to tossing around the slur “homofaggot” in the title of a post, and when the administrators of FundamentalForums.com do not see fit to delete said post, nor the participants of FundamentalForums.com see fit to object to such a slur, then we call hypocrisy.

There are other words we would rather use, but we would never lower ourselves to the cesspool-level of community “standards” of which FundamentalForums.com apparently approves.

Here’s that post again:

We’d bet that if they thought they could get away with it, they’d still be using the N-word, too.
