The Hypocrisy Files: No One Is Trying to Force Vallejo’s Mayor to “Renounce His Christian Beliefs”

“I always find it so pathetically amazing that so many so called Christian individuals immediately begin to scream discrimination when they are called out for their active practice of discrimination. They attempt to stuff their religious beliefs down others throats and then accuse those individuals of denying them freedom of religion when the individuals fight back and refuse to swallow.

“JT Miller your article is nothing but disgruntled bigotry thinly disguised behind mock outrage and false claims of religious freedom. You have the right to hold the religious beliefs of your choice and live your life according to those beliefs and their dictates. I will stand up and fight with all I have against anyone who would attempt to take those rights away.

“However, you do not have the right to insist that others must live according to the dictates of your beliefs. When your beliefs infringe on another’s ability to exercise the same rights as you do that is where your rights end. Davis may believe as he chooses but he may not enshrine those religious beliefs in the laws and policy as if they were some sort of true authority. He must ensure all citizens are able to access and exercise these rights equally.

“Equality must never require religions permission to be provided to all members of society. Those who differ from your religious beliefs and personal ideology do not require your permission to exist. When Davis and his ilk attempt to deny others equality based on their subjective religious ideology all individuals regardless of beliefs should come together and oppose those actions. In no way is this opposition denying or attempting to take away religious freedom but rather it is ensuring such freedom for generations to come.”
