Raymond Roland ColletteCharged: Raymond Roland Collette, 40, media director, City on the Hill Church, St. Petersburg, Florida, “with trying to entice a minor into a sex act after allegedly asking a mother who responded to one of his many Craigslist ads if he could worship her 4-year-old’s shoes – while posing as a woman and using photos from the Facebook profile of a female church member,” reports the New York Daily News. According to court records, a woman (and mother of a four-year-old girl) who responded to one of Collette’s Craigslist ads called police after Collette (a.k.a. “April Love”) “‘expressed (his) wishes to worship (the girl) while she is wearing her sneakers,’” reports the Tampa Bay Times, citing a Homeland Security Investigations affidavit, then “sent K.K. a photo purportedly showing ‘April Love’ with a 10-year-old niece,” and “suggested they ‘trade children sometime,’ court records say.” Story: Tampa Bay Times, August 9, 2012; New York Daily News, August 10, 2012

Clyde JohnsonReleased: Clyde Johnson, 78, former pastor of two Virginia churches, First Baptist Church, Petersburg (one of Virginia’s oldest black churches), and Loving Union Baptist Church, Prince George County; and 14-year Petersburg city councilmember and one-time vice mayor; “who served 20 years behind bars for sex crimes,” but “won’t be returned to prison for violating conditions of his parole,” reports the Progress-Index. Arrested on the unspecified parole violation in June, Johnson was convicted in 1987 on 15 counts of rape, attempted rape, and aggravated sexual battery committed against six girls aged 10 to 15 (most of whom were churchgoers), and was sentenced to 120 years in prison with 41 years suspended. GhanaArrested: Woegna Yao Koufoualesse, 44, Togolese-born head pastor, Inner Temple Ministry International, Pantang Junction, Accra, Ghana, at Kotoka International Airport for smuggling 4.2 kilos (about 9.25 lbs.) of cocaine (worth over $100,000 wholesale in the U.S.), disguised as lollipops. Information Nigeria reports: “Another suspect, Amidu Mohammed, 42, a charcoal burner from Lambusie in the Upper West Region, was arrested together with the pastor. Both suspects arrived on the same flight from Sao Paulo and Amidu was found to have swallowed 100 pellets of cocaine. He has expelled 95 pellets following his arrest. According to Amidu, he was compelled to expel five pellets in a toilet in Dubai when he started feeling uncomfortable.” Story: Information Nigeria, August 1, 2012

Richard NachajskiGuilty plea: Richard Nachajski, 66, former Roman Catholic priest, St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, Millmont, Pennsylvania, to stealing more than $100,000 (but less than $400,000, although it is alleged that more than $476,000 was stolen, and that Nachajski wrote checks to himself and credit card companies for more than $325,000) from his church. Michael NjorogeAccused: “Apostle” Michael Njoroge, televangelist and pastor, Fire Gospel Ministries, City Cabanas, Embakasi, Nairobi, Kenya, of paying prostitutes as shills in his church in order to fake “miracles” as proof of his divine power. Meanwhile, Njoroge is also accused of threatening two journalists for exposing him on TV, while NTA reports that one of the prostitutes “who came out giving her personal account with the pastor … now claims that she’s been receiving anonymous calls from unknown assailants who’ve issued threats over her life following the evidence she revealed on camera to NTV.” In late July, Njoroge’s firearms license was revoked after the pastor “claimed that gunmen had sprayed his moving car with bullets,” and a Provincial police chief said preliminary investigations indicated the “attack” was faked. CanadaGuilty plea: Ralph Rowe, 72, former Anglican priest and Boy Scout leader, Kenora, Ontario, to seven counts of sexually abusing boys during the 1970s and 1980s. CBC reports: “Rowe was given a two-year conditional sentence and will be under house arrest between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. daily. … The court also imposed a lifetime ban on being in any public place where minors are likely to be present, such as parks and beaches. Rowe was previously convicted of more than 50 sex-related crimes spanning the 1970s and 80s.” Previously, CBC noted: “Investigators suspect Rowe molested more than a 100 victims over the years, while mental health authorities in the north say the tally could be as high as 500.” Story: Yahoo! Joe SimpsonArrested: Joe Simpson, 54, former minister, Heights Baptist Church, Richardson, Texas, and licensed marriage and family counselor, who left his ministry to manage the careers of his pop-star daughters Jessica Simpson and Ashlee Simpson (for whom he also serves as their “moral force”); and “big supporter” and “huge fan” of George W. Bush; on suspicion of drunk driving, reportedly blowing a .12 BAC. He was released on $5,000 bail the day after his August 4th arrest in L.A.’s San Fernando Valley.

According to Jessica Simpson Music Net: “Joe has been criticized many times for his behavior regarding his daughters. He made an infamous remark regarding the size of Jessica’s breasts. He also has been accused of stopping paparazzi taking photographs of his daughter, instead pulling out his own camera, taking photos and selling them. Joe has also been accused of being too involved in his daughter’s personal lives, going as far as setting up dates for Jessica and being involved in her marriage to Nick Lachey. It was hinted on the E! True Hollywood Story that his wife Tina was a member of his church youth group when he was the youth pastor, and he went on to date and marry her.
