Jerry Duane Barham and Melissa Renee LomanArrested: Jerry Duane Barham, 66, pastor, Grace Fellowship New Testament Church, Shawnee, Oklahoma, and Melissa Renee Loman, 33, by the FBI in a federal child pornography investigation, according to KOCO, which notes: “There are very few details because the affidavit is sealed. It will not be unsealed until formal charges are filed, investigators said.” It appears that Barham’s wife, Sydney, is co-pastor of the church. Story: KOCO, February 8, 2013

Robert ColesSentenced: Robert Coles, 71, retired Church of England vicar, to eight years after pleading guilty to multiple charges of sexual abuse (including buggery) committed against three young boys (one of whom later attempted suicide) during the 1970s and 80s. Coles was arrested in March, 2012, at the same time as Canon Gordon Rideout, 73, former vicar, All Saints Church, Eastbourne, Anglican Diocese of Chichester, U.K., who was also charged with sexually abusing multiple boys. John CrewsResigned: John Crews, 67, Roman Catholic priest, as executive director of Hanna Boys Center, a Catholic residential treatment facility and school for “troubled boys” between the ages of 13 and 18 in Sonoma, California, “following an allegation of sexual misconduct with a boy in the 1970s,” reports the Press Democrat, in “a complaint brought by relatives of the alleged victim, who is deceased.” A now-deleted bio on the center’s website stated: “Prior to joining Hanna Boys Center’s staff, Father Crews served in three parishes and two high schools in the Diocese of Santa Rosa. He has served as Chaplain in the United States Naval Reserve for more than 25 years and currently holds the rank of Captain, Retired. He was appointed Executive Director of Hanna Boys Center in 1984 and continues to serve in that capacity overseeing all facets of the Center’s operation, especially those directly involving the boys.” Story: Press Democrat, February 13, 2013

Keith William Dutson, Jr.Denied appeal: Keith William Dutson, Jr., 28, of the Warren Jeffs branch of Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (FLDS), San Angelo, Texas, of his 2010 conviction of child sexual assault, having “married” a 15-year-old girl in a “religious” ceremony. AustraliaConvicted: Lindsay Hutchinson, 63, former music director/teacher, Christ Church Grammar School (a private, all-boys Anglican day and boarding school), Perth, Western Australia, on 12 charges related to the rape of a 13-year-old boy at the school in 1984. Sentencing is scheduled for April 5, 2013. The Bunbury Mail reports that Hutchinson “admitted to molesting multiple young boys when he took to the stand in his defence of the rape allegations at trial.” The Mail also notes that when he was arrested and then extradited “from his home in Melbourne in 2011 to face the charges in Perth … he was employed by the Melbourne College of Divinity.” A now-deleted page (cache) on the website of St. George’s Cathedral, where Hutchinson was once organist and Master of the Choristers, stated that Hutchinson was employed by a number of different churches and parochial boys’ schools throughout Australia and in New Zealand from the 1970s to the 1990s. Jeremy PierceArrested: Jeremy A. Pierce, 33, teacher, Port City Christian Academy (whose “primary purpose is to follow the Lord’s calling and assist Christian parents in providing a quality Christian education for their children while assisting each student in finding their own path that God has for them. Regardless of content matter, every subject is designed and taught in a Christ-centered manner relative to all matters in one’s life” — except, perhaps, the proper use of singular and plural pronouns), located on the grounds of Westview Christian Church, Shreveport, Louisiana, “for aggravated rape, sexual battery, and prohibited sexual conduct between educator and student,” according to the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office, which reports:

“Detective James Moore, of the Caddo Sheriff’s Youth Services Division, arrested Pierce at the school following an investigation into allegations that Pierce acted inappropriately with the teen-age student, who is mentally challenged. Moore said on numerous occasions Pierce called the victim out of class via text message and committed a sexual battery on her while on school grounds. On another occasion, Pierce committed a sexual battery on her while driving her home from school.” Pierce is currently in custody on a $750,000 bond. South AfricaCharged: Unnamed South African pastor, 29, Full Gospel Church, Klerksdorp, North West Province, South Africa, with raping a teenage girl during a church crusade. The South African Police Service states: “A man of the cloth found himself in the Rustenburg Police Cells on rape charges. The Full Gospel Church’s Pastor visited the church Perish for a Crusade at their branch in Phokeng near Rustenburg. The 29 year old Pastor had to stay in Phokeng for the whole week of the Church Crusade. It is alleged that during the time of the service the pastor was preying on a 17 year old girl who is the member of Full Gospel church.

“The pastor originates at the church’s branch in Kanana Orkney in Klerksdorp, according to the victim’s mother the pastor used to collect the girl and her friends to help him clean at the church premises in the evenings. On the morning of February the 11th the pastor came to collect the victim from her house as usual and offered the young girl lift to School.

“Unsuspicious the young Girl accepted the Pastor’s offer, instead of driving to School the Suspect turned to the nearby bushes where he allegedly raped the victim. The Community members who saw the Pastor’s vehicle turning into the bushes with a young girl in school uniform alerted the Police who were passing. Police followed the direction given by the community members and they found the Pastor sexually assaulting the young teenager in her innocent school uniform.

“The pastor was arrested and charged with rape at Phokeng Police Station, he will appear before Bafokeng Magistrates’ court at Tlhabane today 13 February 2013.” Story: South African Police Service, February 13, 2013
