Yeah, he’s a sleazebag, but you know the rot really emanates from the head of the Universal Church….Pope Francis I went along with the junta in Argentina during the “Dirty War” (1973-82), according to an article in CounterPunch ( http://www.counterpunch.org/2013/03/20/can-even-god-forgive-jorge-mario-bergoglio/ ). The gist of it is that Fr. Bergoglio chose which children were to be taken away from “disappeared” parents, that he narked out nuns whom he thought were teaching Liberation theology, and that he turned over two fellow Jesuits for similar reasons. The nuns were killed by the Argentine military; the two priests tortured and deported.

I have to agree with Sam Smith of the Progressive Review; Francis I is a placeholder, a calming figurehead for the masses while the Catholic bureaucracy gets its house in order. We know there are power struggles within the Vatican, we know there is probably a huge scandal they are trying to hide. I don’t think that coverups help though; people will find out in the end.
