Chip Pickering Reportedly Punches Out Youth Soccer Coach

The fun just never ends in the Pickering family:

Former Congressman (and C Streeter) Chip Pickering is reportedly under police investigation for his involvement in a brawl with a rival youth league soccer coach.

Apparently, police were called to Liberty Park in Madison, Mississippi, after Pickering and coach Christopher Hester came to blows when Pickering confronted Hester over the treatment of Pickering’s son.

The kicker? Hester claims he was wearing a neck brace at the time of the incident.

Backstory: “Haley Barbour Keeps It All in the C Street Family,” October 3, 2009

The political committees of Louisiana Sen. David Vitter, Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour and former Rep. Chip Pickering (R-Miss.) have been accused of scheming to conceal a contribution from Pickering to Vitter in violation of federal campaign finance laws.

The Louisiana Democratic Party plans to file a formal complaint with the Federal Election Commission today, charging that Barbour’s PAC essentially filtered a $5,000 campaign donation from Pickering’s PAC to Louisiana Vitter’s 2010 reelection committee to make it look like the contribution didn’t come directly from Pickering.

Louisiana Democrats allege that Pickering didn’t want it to look like one Republican embroiled in a sex scandal was giving to another Republican involved in a sex scandal.

Haley Barbour Keeps It All in the C Street Family

Some funny money goings-on amongst the C-Streeters:

Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour’s political action committee reported giving $5,000 to Sen. David Vitter, R-La., the same week it accepted an identical amount from former Rep. Chip Pickering of Mississippi.

Pickering, like Vitter, is a conservative Christian Republican accused of having an extramarital affair linked to the “C Street” townhouse in Southeast Washington that is at the center of a spate of GOP sex scandals.

Pickering’s otherwise dormant CHIP PAC made its first donation of the year to Haley’s PAC on Aug. 15 — four days after the governor gave to Vitter’s 2010 re-election campaign… The two checks comprise all of the month’s activities for Haley’s PAC, which has just $13,281.37 in the bank and has made only one other contribution this year.

Is it just a coincidence? …

“No comment,” said Austin Barbour, who is treasurer of his uncle Haley’s PAC…

Wife Says Chip Pickering (R-Miss.) Having Affair

The wife of former Rep. Chip Pickering (R-Miss.) has accused her husband of having an affair. If true, Pickering’s affair would make him the third affiliate of a certain DC townhouse shared by Christian politicians to have had an affair.

Pickering’s wife, who made the claim in a lawsuit filed this week against her husband, alleges that the affair took place while Pickering was in Congress and living at a boarding house of sorts on C St, the same house where Sen. John Ensign (R-Nev.) currently lives. The house doubles as a Christian fellowship, with lawmakers meeting there for bible study and prayer sessions. Mark Sanford sought counsel there in the aftermath of his much publicized infidelity. …
