Not that he’s absolved for his adulterous affair, but he’s certainly sleeping more peacefully tonight. NBC5 has the story:: “Three former employees whose lawsuits rocked the Bedford-based Christian TV network Daystar have dropped their cases and did not receive any money from the ministry, according to court records. The cases drew national headlines two years ago after evangelist Marcus Lamb admitted that he had had an extra-marital affair. Riiiiight… Never mind that “donations are down 7 percent compared with the same period in 2010″ (although they’re “up 5 percent over 2009″) — or, if somebody asked us here at ConBab Central to make an educated guess, that it maybe, sorta, kinda looks like Daystar might be economizing in order to shore up resources in anticipation of a big pay-out to somebody, somewhere (no, no, we don’t mean hush money, but maybe payout on a lawsuit or two they just maybe, might expect to lose). ‘Course, nobody asked us, and we couldn’t possibly know what’s really going on behind the scenes, and it just might be as the Star-Telegram says Daystar mouthpiece A. Larry Ross says: that the “move is intended to make better use of the capabilities of its headquarters.”

Just when you thought things couldn’t get any stickier for Macus and Joni Lamb, Word of God Fellowship has been sued again by another Daystar employee, this time accusing Joni Lamb’s old man, Bill Trammell, of, uh, naughty behavior.

An interesting piece in the Dallas Morning News should sate the collective appetite until we get some actual news about Marcus Lamb’s adultery scandal, and the dueling lawsuits between Daystar and former employee Jeanette Hawkins.
One thing’s clear: Marcus and Joni Lamb can’t afford to lose this one: their lifestyle depends on it — although the Lambs are quick to note that viewer donations do not pay Daystar salaries, and did not buy the Lambs their 7,000-square-foot home. (more…)

Marcus Lamb’s mistress as alleged in this lawsuit: Janice Smith, Daystar’s former Vice President of Programming, Marketing, and Affiliate Relations
The two other employees alleged in this lawsuit to have discovered emails “clearly proving … an illicit sexual relationship” between Lamb and Smith: Terry Germany*, former Webmaster for Daystar (and now, according to his LinkedIn profile, a broadcast engineer for the Dallas Cowboys) and Greg Brondo, Daystar’s former Director of Information Technology.

We’re getting whiplash.
Let’s recap:
On November 30, Marcus Lamb, slick-as-snot televangelist and head of the big-’n'-powerful Christian TV network, Daystar, admitted to having had an extramarital affair, on the air (his admission was broadcast, not the affair, you sillies!), because, he said, he was being blackmailed by three Very Bad People demanding seven-and-a-half mill lest they blow the lid off Lamb’s seven-year-long adventure in adultery.
On December 1, Daystar’s former Director of Marketing Jeanette Hawkins filed suit against Marcus Lamb, Word of God Fellowship, Inc., and Daystar Television Network, claiming false representation (with Lamb bonking Hawkins’s boss, Daystar didn’t offer the uber-Christian environment Hawkins was promised), mental anguish (Hawkins was that devastated by the revelation of Lamb’s sinnin’), and, most damning, defamation (Lamb & Co. did all but name Hawkins and two other employees as “extortionists”).
Now Daystar has countersued Hawkins and the two other, as-yet-unnamed former employees, charging conspiracy to commit extortion: (more…)

Backstory: “Pentecostal ‘Prosperity Gospel’ Televangelist Marcus Lamb Confesses to Adultery… But Only After Blackmail Threat,” November 30, 2010
Thanks to John for alerting us to this most recent development.
In a nutshell, a former employee of Lamb’s Daystar Television Network, is suing the televangelist, his Word of God Fellowship, Inc., and Daystar for… well, at first it sounds like she’s suing for false representation, and then it sounds like she’s suing on the grounds of the elusive and intangible “mental anguish” angle, but those claims do not comprise the meat of the suit at all.
Just wait until you read the excruciating details of the allegations, which, if true, likely spell the end of the Marcus Lamb empire. We’re not even talking about any monetary loss — we mean: Once Lamb’s followers get a load of these allegations, they’re going to turn on him like an army of jilted lovers. (And we wouldn’t blame them.)
Fasten your seatbelt and get ready for the most damning parts of the lawsuit filed by one Jeanette Hawkins, December 1, 2010.
