Rick Bartlett, 55, pastor, Bastrop Christian Church, Bastrop, Texas, facing charges of animal cruelty (heartbreaking backstory here), has been served with a civil lawsuit by Sarah and Eddy Bell, owners of Moody, a 12-year-old family cat described as friendly, child-loving, and a member of the family (which includes a five-year-old girl who, knowing “the man who did this is a pastor,” no longer believes in heaven). Arrested and charged: Rick Bartlett, 55, pastor, Bastrop Christian Church, Bastrop County, Texas, with animal cruelty after allegedly killing a family cat by throwing him off a 50-foot bridge. Bartlett, known for trapping feral cats, reportedly captured the 12-year-old tabby, Moody — who wore identification tags — then threw the cat in a cage on the back of his truck and “forgot” about him for three days.
